Obituary

COLUMBIANA - Dorothy A. Yoder, 80, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Friday, Nov. 21. Dorothy was born Oct. 24, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of Paul and Elva (Lehman) Yoder. She married Wilbur E. Yoder on May 30, 1953. Dorothy was a member of the Midway Mennonite Church, where she was a past Bible School teacher, served on several committees, was a secretary of the church board, greeter, and was active in the Midway Fellowship Committee and Retreats. She was a 1952 graduate of Fairfield High School, and a 1967 graduate of the Hannah Mullins School of Practical Nursing as a LPN. She worked at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Diamond Head Nursing Home in North Lima, and at Little Forest Medical Center in Boardman. Additionally, she worked 20 years as a bookkeeper for the Huffman Fruit Farm. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, doing puzzles, and playing games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Mennonite Women Service Committee, the Farm Bureau, and the Fairfield Alumni Association. She was a school bus driver in earlier years, being the first female driver for North Lima, South Range, and Columbiana schools. She also helped out on the family farm. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur; daughters Beverly (Leonard) Millhorn of Washingtonville and Emily (John) Huffman of Salem; sons Alan (Linda) Yoder of Dalton, Calvin Yoder of Lincoln, Del., and Darrel (Barbara) Yoder of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m., at the Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Columbiana, with Pastor Jesse Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 South Elm St., Columbiana, and also one hour, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Dorothy's memory to the Midway Mennonite Church, or to the American Cancer Society. The Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
