Obituary

COLUMBIANA - E. Dale Bacon, 89, passed away Monday evening, November 2 at Whispering Pines Village surrounded by her family. She had been a former resident of Southern Terrace Park in Columbiana. Mrs. Bacon was born on November 9, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter of Charles F. and Helen (Gibbs) Collier. She graduated Sioux City Central High School in 1943, and attended Lindenwood College for Women in Missouri before marrying Oris H. Bacon on May 30, 1946. Together they worked their farm on East Pine Lake Road in New Springfield for over 50 years. Dale was a prolific sewer, making most of the clothes she wore. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, baking and gardening. One of her passions was drawing, and for many years would draw her own Christmas cards for family and friends. She was a member of First Christian Church and was a member of the choir. Dale leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Martha Schaefer and her husband Dan of New Springfield and Leslie Best of Columbiana; one son Lowell Bacon and his wife Nancy of Columbiana; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-parents Martin C. Lange and Edna Dietz Lange, her husband Oris who passed away May 5, 2009, son Martin Scott Bacon, daughter Judy Lee Bacon Hall Hartford and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St., Columbiana with Pastor David Flood officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Dale's memory to First Christian Church or All - Caring Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, OH 44406. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
