Eber S. Martin, 93, of Shepard of the Valley, West Blvd, Boardman OH, a former long time resident of Columbiana and North Lima, passed away at 5:41 pm Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Boardman. Mr. Martin, the son of Stephen R. and Catherine (Lehman) Martin, was born on August 29, 1918 in Columbiana, Ohio. Eber was a member of the Midway Mennonite Church and was the Sunday school superintendent and teacher in past years. He was the author of several poetry books as well as being a Charter member of the Fairfield Ruritan Club, where he served as the president, vice president and secretary in years past. He was also a member of the 3 C's Green-Beaver Council of Church and Community, and also a Charter member of the New Waterford Lions Club. Eber worked for the Boardman local school district where he retired in 1984 as head custodian, prior to that he had been self employed as owner and operator of Home Supply store in Middleton, OH. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife Della M. (Lapp) Martin, who passed away March 29, 2007. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Brenda and husband David Graybill, Harrisonburg, VA, and three sons, Roger L. (Anna) Martin, Montgomery, AL, Byron W. Martin, Louisville, OH, and Ward M. (Maxine) Martin, North Lima, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Two brothers, Lloyd and Homer Martin, and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Trotter and Bertha S. Martin also preceded him in death. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, Columbiana, and one hour prior to service at the church. Service time is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24th, 2011 at the Midway Mennonite Church, with Rev. Dan Coburn officiating. Material contributions may be made to the Green-Beaver 3 C's.
