Edgar E. Hantz, 94, of 738 Fairfield Ave, Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Salem Community Hospital from infirmities of age. Edgar was born November 15, 1914 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of the late Luther and Mary (Martz) Hantz. Mr. Hantz was a graduate of Alliance High School. He was employed as a tool grinder, having worked for Galino Products in Alliance, Enterprise Company in Columbiana, Fairfield Machine Shop in Columbiana and 24 years for National Rubber Machinery in Columbiana, from where he retired in 1984. Edgar was a faithful member of the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, enjoyed gardening and his cats. Edgar was preceded in death on August 6, 1996 by his wife, Kathryn M. (Rohrer) Hantz whom he married on October 26, 1957. He is also survived by his sister, Elinore Hantz of Alliance, Ohio; his brother, Alvin Hantz of Alliance, Ohio; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alpheus and Alice Rohrer of North Lima, Ohio; three nephews and two nieces. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009 and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that material contributions be made to the Zion Hill Church Memorial Fund.
