Edith M. Carlson, 89, of New Waterford, Ohio passed away early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2009 at the Essex House in Salem. She was born January 11, 1920 in Sebring, Ohio, the daughter of John and Clara (Plonkey) Cardinal. Mrs. Carlson was a longtime member of St. Jude's parish in Columbiana, Ohio and worked for many years at the Ferguson Farm Market in Columbiana. Edith was preceded in death on May 20, 1975 by her husband Walter Carlson, whom she married on August 10, 1940. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca (Thomas) Nentwick of Canfield, Ohio; one sister, Cathryn Leaver of Alliance, Ohio; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline of Canfield and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by one brother, Judge John Cardinal and by one sister, Ruth Ann Knox. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. with Father Thomas Ziegler officiating. Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.
