Obituary

Eljean V. Riffle, 87, of North Lima, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus following a long illness. Eljean was born on May 11, 1923 in Batesville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Raymond and Leona S. (Shore) Tanner. Mrs. Riffle owned and operated Orthopedic Appliance Company of Youngstown with her husband Oscar. She also worked as a secretary for Dr. McGregor in the 1980's. Eljean was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, a member and officer of Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club and a member of State Org. as well as an officer. Eljean was preceded in death on November 7, 1992 by her husband, Oscar L. Riffle whom she married on January 13, 1940. She is also survived by three daughters, Sandra (Richard) Evans of North Lima, Ohio, Cathy (Eric) Sellers of Evans City, Pennsylvania, Carol Charniga of Troy, New York; two sons, Gary L. (Pauline) of Bogata, Texas, Richard (Debbie) Riffle of Troutman, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Riffle was preceded in death by her son, John Riffle. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima with Rev. Gary Rinker officiating. Burial will be in Paradise United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made to the church building fund.
