Ellen Esterly Clendenin, 83, died on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Ellen was born in Columbiana, Ohio on May 20, 1922 to the late Robert John Esterly and Hildred Irene McGrath. On November 30, 1940 she married William Everett Clendenin, Jr. She will be remembered as a loving mother and generous woman who served quietly and faithfully. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by daughters, Martha Clendenin of Gainesville, FL., Jean Conwell of Greenwich, CT, Betty Jo Gravitt and husband, Glenn of Cary, NC; sons, David Cledenin and wife, Ernestine of Willcox, AZ, Dan Clendenin and wife, Patti of Palo Alto, CA, Richard "Dick" Cledenin and wife, Nancy of Willow Spring, NC; sister, Miriam Esterly Hutson of Columbiana, OH; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music Department of the Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church, 308 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Local arrangements are being handled by Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home.
