SALEM - Elmer R. Lehman, 92, passed away peacefully late Wednesday evening, May 13 at Hospice House with his loving family around him. Mr. Lehman was born on March 14, 1923 in Marshallville, OH, a son of David B. and Alta M. (Burkholder) Lehman. He married the former Margaret S. Snyder on September 30, 1944; they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Elmer worked as a small engine repairman at Witmer's Inc., and Hilltop Lawn and Garden Inc., retiring after 33 years of service. He worked at home repairing and sharpening chainsaws and mowers until March 2015. Elmer was a long time member of Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana. He went on many mission trips through the church to aid in disaster relief. Elmer enjoyed puzzles and Sudoku and read his Bible through many times. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Margaret of Salem; a daughter Ruby Breneman and her husband Ashby and a son Melvin Lehman and his wife Daffanie, all of Salem; two grandchildren Elizabeth Ann Devan of Columbiana and Angela Yarian (James Clark) of Alliance; and 3 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Dean, and CharleeAnne. Mr. Lehman was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Dorothy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, Columbiana with Pastor Jason Harsh and Pastor John Bartholomew officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Elmer's memory to the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
