Florence V. Gongaware Brown, age 98, of the Allay Senior Care Center of Lisbon, OH, passed away at 11:20 am Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Salem Community Hospital. Mrs. Brown, the daughter of Olauf and Lovisa (Gustafson) Lund, was born on March 28, 1913 in Dagus Mines, PA. Florence was raised in Youngstown, OH. and later moved to Kittanning, PA. She then moved to Columbiana in 1987 and later moved to Lisbon in 2009. Mrs. Brown worked at the former Oles market of Youngstown and also a life long homemaker. She was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church of North Lima and had been a past Dorcas circle member of the church. She had also been a former member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Kittanning, PA. Florence was also an American Legion Auxiliary member of 290 of Columbiana and a V.F.W. Auxiliary member of 4843 of Ford City, PA. She also enjoyed bingo and card playing. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell M. Gongaware on December 7, 1983, whom she married July 27, 1935. She also was preceded in death by her second husband Arthur O. Brown, who died in 2002, whom she married July 16, 1988. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son Russell N. Gongaware, who died November 22, 2002. Mrs. Brown was the last of a family of nine children. Florence is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Susan L. (Bruce) Conaway of Lisbon, and a son, Lawrence R. Gongaware of Wintersville, OH. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Larry R. Gongaware, Laura Ann Barnes, and Lance B. Conaway, and one great granddaughter, Lindsay Keating, and a great-great granddaughter Adalynn Ours. Services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating.
