Obituary

POLAND - Private family services will be held on Wednesday, May 11 for Florence Weaver Morey, who died Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Sunrise Senior Living in Poland. She was born on December 26, 1915 on a farm on the Springfield-Beaver Township border in Mahoning County, OH to the late John Alpheus and Emma Jane (Williams) Weaver. She married Merle Clark Morey of East Palestine, OH in 1934. After her marriage, she and her husband lived in a house they built near her family's farm. The family then engaged in farming and coal mining. Florence was a fine seamstress, making quilts for her family and crocheting many afghans. She was an excellent cook and baker and baked hundreds of cookies for her grandchildren. She loved to babysit her grandchildren, too. Family gatherings were a very important part of her life. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, bowling with her husband Merle, and in her fifties, golfing at Valley Golf Club where she won many awards. She especially enjoyed following her children in their sports at North Lima High School; later following her grandchildren in their sports and school activities also. Florence celebrated her 100th birthday on December 26th, 2015 at the Glenellen Senior Living Community in North Lima, OH. Florence leaves to cherish her precious memory her sons John and his wife Barbara of Canfield and Gerald and his wife Beatrice of Casa Grande, AZ; her daughter Judy Lorant-Pontuti and her husband William of North Lima; 12 grandchildren James Morey, John Matthew (Candice) Morey, William (Kimberly) Morey, Megan (Nathaniel Budington) Morey, Margaret (Peter) Morey-Reuner, Lynn Bartlo, Scott (Susan) Morey, John (Beverly) Lorant, Jacci (Donald) Niemi, Sherry (Harry Ellis) Augustine, Terry (Robert) Puerner, and Thomas Augustine; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merle who passed away May 1, 1981, her daughter June Augustine who passed away September 8, 2002, four sisters Hazel Shillinger-Gorley, Gladys Coates, Rose Johnson, and Erma Smith, and three brothers Allen, Clyde and Russell Weaver. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one. The family suggests if friends desire, donations may be made in Florence's memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
