Frances "Fran" V. VanPelt, 88, of Salem, Ohio passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Essex I in Salem from complications of a stroke. Mrs. VanPelt was born on July 7, 1921 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ellis and Laura (Bastian) Good. Fran worked as a bagger and sorter at Salem Fruit Growers in Greenford for 12 years. She was a member of he Washingtonville Robbins United Methodist Church. Mrs. VanPelt was preceded in death on March 4, 1980 by her husband, Jacob "Jake" VanPelt, whom she married on July 17, 1942. Fran is survived by one daughter, Linda (Stephen) Smith of Salem, Ohio; one son, Ronald (Cathy) VanPelt of Girard, Ohio; six grandchildren, Laurie Spatholt, Julie Trowbridge, Ryan VanPelt, Bob VanPelt, David VanPelt, Lindsey VanPelt; and by seven great-grandchildren, Beth Doyle, Danielle Spatholt, Jacob Mitchell, Cody VanPelt, Amber Early, Alexis Caudill, Jessica Trowbridge; and by one great-great grandson, Nathan Doyle. Mrs. VanPelt was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Newell. A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Robbins United Methodist Church in Washingtonville, Ohio.
