Frank Vitko, 85, of New Springfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday at his home with his family by his side. Frank was born on Sept. 17, 1928 in New Springfield, the son of Andro and Agnes (Franjko) Vitko, and was a lifelong area resident. He worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube for 42 years as a second helper and melter. He was very proud that he completed his GED. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed trapping, traveling, and woodworking. He especially enjoyed Cleveland professional sports teams and was a huge Springfield Local fan. He was also a devoted member of New Creation Fellowship. Frank leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife of 62 years, Virginia (Black) Vitko of New Springfield; a son, Frank (Greta) Vitko of Garland, Tex.; a daughter, Bonnie (Mark) Martin of Canfield; three grandchildren, Michael (Kayla) Vitko, Lisa (Justin) Keck, and Shawna Hendricks; five great-grandchildren, Fischer, Grayson, and Ryder Vitko and Tyler and Shelby Keck, all of Texas; and a brother, Paul, of Farmington. Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by four brothers, Andrew, Steve, John, and Pete Vitko. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Pastor Joe Congemi officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.
