Salem, OH - Gail L. Durr, 70, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, July 25 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman, with her family at her side. Gail was born on October 13, 1943 in Canton, OH, a daughter of Albert Ross and Lois (Oliver) Patrick. She graduated from Augusta (OH) High School in 1961, and came to this area shortly thereafter. Gail married Samuel G. Durr, Sr. on November 11, 1962 at Minerva Methodist Church, and together they would raise three sons. Mrs. Durr worked at Farmers National Bank in bookkeeping, and later attained her medical assistant degree. She assisted many practices, including Dr.McGowan, Dr. Burkhart, and Dr. Brine. She also worked at Akron Children's Hospital, and most recently at Visiting Angels. Gail was an active member of Greenford Christian Church and a member of the Green Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a part of the PTO at South Range and a band booster parent. She enjoyed camping knitting, and quilting, but most of all she loved being with her family. A devoted mom and grandma, she was the best babysitter and often would go to watch her grandchildren play basketball and other activities. Besides her husband, Gail leaves to cherish her precious memory three sons, Samuel G. Durr Jr. and his wife Sue of Beaver Township, Scott Durr and his wife Tracy of Lisbon, and Steve Durr and his wife Edyta of Canton, GA; seven grandchildren, Jason (Allison) Locke of NYC, Sara and Tyler Durr of Beaver Township, Austin and Bryan Durr of Canton, GA, and Ryan and Cody Holenchick of Lisbon; and three sisters, Marla K. (Jim) Phillis of Salem, Barbara (William) Kiehl of Rogers, and Marcia (Robert) Wood of Kensington. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Rd Greenford, OH 44422, with Pastor Sean Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
