Gary T. Patterson, 50, of New Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008, after suffering an apparent heart attack, while going fishing at Lake Erie in Ashtabula County. Gary was born on January 10, 1958 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Thomas J. and Ruth M. (Peterson) Patterson. Gary was a life long area resident. He worked as a heavy duty truck mechanic for Fyda Freightliner Co. of Austintown for twenty years. Mr. Patterson was a member and past president of the Ohio Valley Bass Anglers Association. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and woodworking. Gary is survived by his wife, Geri E. (Bardon) Patterson, whom he married on January 11, 1986 and his son, Thomas Patterson. Other survivors include his parents, Thomas and Ruth Patterson of Columbiana; two sisters, Marlene and her husband Lynn Squire of Boardman, Joyce and her husband Jeff Fullerton of Columbiana; two brothers, Doug and his wife Lisa Patterson of Columbiana and Jeff and his wife Lora Patterson of North Lima. Gary also leaves many nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, with Rev. Jan Winnal officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Calling Hours will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be sent to Home Savings and Loan to be held in a trust fund (Gary Patterson Trust) for Tom's college education.
