NEW MIDDLETOWN – George C. Harris, 87, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 29, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Harris was born on November 20, 1929 in Struthers, a son of Raymond E. and Edna M. (Whomsley) Harris. A life-long Springfield Township resident, he served in the U.S. Army stateside during the Korean Conflict. George was a member of Columbiana Baptist Church. He was employed by Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. for 25 years as an electrician, retiring in 1995.

George leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife the former Margie Bendik, whom he married March 3, 1951; a daughter, Deborah Green and her husband Theodore of Rockaway, NJ; one son Raymond E. Harris and his wife Margaret ('Peg') of Petersburg; and two grandchildren Raymond Edward Harris Jr. and his wife Nicole of Boardman and Ryan Lee Harris of Petersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jean Houk, Mary Harris, and Leah Price, and brother Edward Harris.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Columbiana Baptist Church, 44420 Heck Road, Columbiana with Pastor Jeff Jamieson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in George's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512.
