Gordon Paul Koehler I., 70, of Leetonia, Ohio, passed away at 5:06 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Koehler was born on January 22, 1938, in Boardman, Ohio, the son of Charles J. and Martha (Best) Koehler. Gordon was a life long area resident and a graduate of Wilson High School Class of 1956. Gordon also attended Repperts School of Auctioneering in 1972. Mr. Koehler lost his arm due to cancer at age 19, however he never felt that he was handicapped and there was very little that he could not do. Gordon retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube after 25 years, in 1981. Gordon also owned and operated Germantown Gardens of Columbiana and The Flower Depot in Leetonia, Ohio and operated concessions for many years at local fairs. Mr. Koehler worked with Jim Baer for twenty five years as an auctioneer and master appraiser, he also sold real estate and worked at Rogers Auction. Gordon enjoyed growing plants and flowers and in earlier years was a softball and little league coach. Gordon is survived by his wife, Irene (Rodrick) Koehler, whom he married on April 9, 1988. Other survivors include two children, Terry Lynn (Tom) Otto of Gavers, Ohio and Gordon (Tammy) Koehler II of Leetonia, Ohio; one sister, Barbara (Andrew) Palusak of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Gordon Paul III, Jennifer and James Koehler; two step-daughters, Linda Bell of Foley, Alabama, Lori Guy of Columbiana, two step-sons, David (Patsy) Rodrick of Houston, Texas, Thomas (Cindy) Rodrick of Leetonia, Ohio; fifteen step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Jeff Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2008 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
