Obituary

Columbiana – Gwendolyn Dee Frost, 82, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at The Haven in North Benton, OH.

She was born January 10, 1935 in Columbiana, Ohio, the daughter of J. Paul and Hilda (Frederick) Wilms. A 1952 Fairfield High School graduate, Mrs. Frost studied landscape architecture at Temple University Ambler near Philadelphia, was an owner of Gwenn-Gary Nursery, Inc., (Columbiana and Decherd, TN), was secretary of the Mahoning Valley Landscape and Nursery Association, and advised the horticulture program at the Columbiana County Joint Vocational School.

She was a lifelong member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana, where she also served as Sunday school teacher and elder. She was a past matron of the Eastern Star in Columbiana and a member of the East Palestine Amateur Radio Club. She served as secretary of the Franklin County Resource Development Corp. Gwen served as a substitute teacher in Decherd and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was an avid gardener and cook, and also enjoyed photography and sewing for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Robert Frost, Sr., and she leaves brothers Gary Wilms of Leetonia and Paul (Susan) Wilms of North Olmstead, and a sister, Caroline (Bob) Hall of Salem. Mrs. Frost is survived by her sons Tom (Becky) Frost of Columbiana, Bob Frost of Columbiana, Jim (Deb) Frost of East Fairfield, and Dan (Wendy) Frost of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren Colleen (Rob) Campbell, Heather (Way) Jeng, Ellen (Lee Boyle) Frost, Sam (Kerri) Frost, James (Jo) Frost, Daniel Frost and David Frost; and four great-grandchildren Katie, Elise and Evie Campbell and Rebecca Jeng.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH 44408. Pastor Ralph Edwards of the Good Hope Lutheran Church of North Lima will be officiating.

Friends may call Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

She will be interred at Columbiana Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gwen's memory to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
