Harold L. Baer, 74, of 12275 Market St., North Lima, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love of his life early Thursday morning, November, 10, 2011 following a short battle with cancer. Mr. Baer was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, August 5, 1937, the son of Alvey and Elizabeth (Kuhns) Baer. Harold moved to the area in 1958. He was a truck driver and later became a sales manager at Barth Farms in Poland for twenty-eight years. In later years he was a truck driver for Edgar Miller Company in Youngstown and then for Lemon Tree Flowers in Columbiana. He was a member of the North Lima Mennonite Church where he was a past Sunday School teacher and superintendent, Elder and janitor. Mr. Baer was preceded in death by his wife Effie (Ropp) who he married January 1, 1959. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Ed) Wilson of New Springfield; Marlene (Gerald) Witmer of Poolesville, MD; two sons Gareth (Karla) Baer of North Lima and Arnold (Dawn) Baer of Poolesville, MD; three sisters, Gladys (Raymond) Shank of Harrisonburg, VA; Marie (Raymond) Davis of Mineral Ridge; Esther (Ernie) Mast of Lancaster, PA; one brother David (Nancy) Baer; nine grandchildren, Bob (Kristy) Wilson, Heather (Nick) Shaulis of New Springfield; Ryan Witmer, Hutchinson KS; Austin (Connie) Witmer of Roanoke, VA; Kayla and Leana Witmer of Poolesville MD; Lauren, Landon and Logan Baer of North Lima; five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Robby, and Makenna Wilson, Alaina and Ava Shaulis all of New Springfield. Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at North Lima Mennonite Church and also one hour prior to the service Monday, November 14, 2011 at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 with Pastor Robert D. Wengerd officiating at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima. Burial will be at the North Lima Mennonite Cemetery. Family suggest that material contributions be made to North Lima Mennonite Church or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, North Lima.
