Obituary

Harold H. Knee, 88, formerly of Lisbon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Blossom Nursing Home in Salem. Harold was born October 6, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Floyd and Julia (Bax) Knee. Mr. Knee was a self employed carpenter for 60 years in the local area. Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leetonia, a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 55 years and a member of Mt. Nebo Grange. He was a W.W. II Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre on board the Miramar. Mr. Knee also served on the Leetonia Cemetery Board and was instrumental in the construction of the cemetery chapel, where he contributed his carpentry skills during its construction. Harold enjoyed wood crafting and antique furniture restoration. He was also an accomplished harmonica player and in 1930 Harold played the harmonica on Radio Time in California. Mr. Knee was preceded in death on December 19, 2000 by his wife Jean Whitacre whom he married on April 28, 1946. Harold is survived by daughter-in-law, Barbara D. Knee of Leetonia, Ohio; three sisters, Grace Bush of Stockton, California, Marge Kelley of Clovis, California, Helen Waller of Homeland, California; one brother, Paul (Dorothy) Knee of Fresno, California; and by his friend Donna Dunn of Winona, Ohio. Mr. Knee was preceded in death by one son, Richard Knee in 2002, one brother and three sisters. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leetonia, with Rev. Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, February 2, 2009 from 10-11 a.m.
