Harold E. Nichols, 61, of Boardman, Ohio, passed away at 11:33 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center due to complications of cancer. Mr. Nichols was born on June 3, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Hayden and Mary Lee (Good) Nichols. Following the death of Harold's father, his mother married Paul Nichols who was Harold's uncle, who always treated Harold as a son. Harold was a retired truck driver for Valley Foods, in Youngstown. Prior to driving truck, he had worked for Merco Amusement Ride Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana. Mr. Nichols served in Alaska in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, E. Maxine McMurray, whom he married on June 23, 1989. He is also survived by three step-sons, Duane (Tina) Metts of Chilocothe, Ohio, Daryl Metts of Youngstown, Ohio and Douglas (Penny) Metts of Boardman; and by one step-granddaughter, Denise Metts. Harold was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father and by one sister, Janet. No services will be held.
