Harold E. Roberts, 83, of 6356 Adams Rd. Rogers, Ohio, passed away at 11:15 p.m. at his home on Sunday, August 19, 2007, following an extended illness. Mr. Roberts was born on August 16, 1924 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the son of Paul and Evalena Rhodes Roberts. Harold moved to the local area in his youth. He worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. for 35 years as a 1st Helper in the open hearth. Mr. Roberts was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in W.W. II. Harold was a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church. He enjoyed residing in Florida for part of the year for the past 20 years. Harold was a 1943 graduate of East Palestine where he had excelled at track. Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Swindell, whom he married November 9, 1952. Other survivors include a daughter, Claudia (Brad) Soldo of Petersburg; three sons, Alan Roberts of Salem, Robin (Elaine) Roberts of Shrewsbury, MA and William Roberts at home; a brother Carl Roberts of East Palestine and four grandchildren; Sean, Michael, Emilee and Bryan. Harold was preceded in death by a son James Roberts, a sister June Hacket and a brother Earl Roberts. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the New Waterford Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating.
