Hazel V. Staines, 104 Hazel Staines passed away on Sunday, February 25th at 8:10 am at her home in Poland. She was born June 22, 1902 in Beaver Township, a daughter of Edward and Mary Rothgeb Haney. She was the oldest lifelong member of Paradise Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed quilting and had quilted over 200 quilts after moving to Poland from North Lima. She leaves her daughter Phyllis Forris, with whom she made her home, a grandson Kenneth Forris and one granddaughter Fay (Mike) Forris-Poe, all of Atlanta Georgia, also a niece Shirley Bell of Columbiana. Her husband William Staines whom she married September 22, 1928, died October 13, 1958. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lawrence Haney, two stepsons, Kenneth and Billy Staines and one stepdaughter Edith Smith. Services will be held at Paradise Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 11 am with Rev. Alex Hilliard and Rev. Robert Lenz officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the church or MVI Hospice Care 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44505. The family wants to thank the staff at MVI Hospice for their exceptional care with a special thanks to Tracy, her nurse. Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima handled the arrangements.
