Helen L. Hough, 88, formerly of Stanton Drive, Columbiana, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11:45 a.m. at Assumption Village, where she had been a resident for the past four years. Helen was born on October 6, 1918 in Mercer, PA, the daughter of Paul and Charlotta Swogger Thompson. Mrs. Hough was a homemaker and member of the Free Methodist church in New Middletown. She was the valedictorian of the Scienceville High School Class of 1936. Helen was preceded in death on September 14, 1984 by her husband, Edward B. Hough, whom she married July 29, 1936. Mrs. Hough was survived by two daughters Mrs. Joann Corey of Columbiana and Mrs. Sandra S. Chase of Leetonia. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hough was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Sodeman. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Columbiana Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 17, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and also one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Hospice of the Valley. Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana handled the arrangements. Helen's family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley, Assumption Village Nursing Facility and the staff of the special care unit where she had been a resident for four years.
