Obituary

Helen L. Schmidt, 78 of 11539 Sharrott Rd North Lima, Ohio, passed away suddenly at 1:35 a.m. early Saturday morning, October 1, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman Campus in Boardman. Helen was born September 29, 1933 and was the daughter of Raymond and Margaret Young Groner. Helen graduated from Springfield Local High School in 1951. She moved to North Lima when she married James Schmidt July 29, 1951. They would have had their 60th wedding anniversary, but her beloved husband preceded her in death on June 19, 2011. She worked as a Transport Driver for Cardinal Mooney Schools, at J.C. Penney, and at Pharmor Corporate Offices until her retirement. Helen was a member of Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima where she was active in the Women's Group. She was a past member of Woman's Auxiliary for Beaver Township Fire Department. Mrs. Schmidt was active in the North Lima Community, acting as room mother and a volunteer for Girl and Boy Scouts as well as a support for all their sports. Helen was an avid doll collector and a Cowboy's fan. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Judi Bell of New Springfield and Pam (Bruce) Mills of New Springfield; two sons, David Schmidt of North Lima and Tom Schmidt, Sr. of New Springfield; two sisters, Sue Douglas of Columbiana and Jean (Phil) Patenaude of Kentucky; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Crouse, Jim & Joshua Schmidt, Joe and Angela Mills, Elizabeth Bell and Tommy & Adam Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Hannah, J.D., Heath, Carson, Dylan, Skye, and Korey Lynn; great aunts Hazel (Alex) Walker and Ruth Kacar of Canton;a sister-in-law Grace McCormick of North Lima; a cousin Ken Groner of Cleveland; many nieces and nephews and her best companion, her cat "Timmy". She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Larry. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, with Rev. Melinda Q. Lacefield and Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and 1 hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ. The Family suggests any material tributes be made to Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ.
