Obituary

LEETONIA - Herman J. Miller, Sr., 77, of Leetonia, passed away Thursday evening, November 5 at his home with his loving family by his side. Herman was born on March 7, 1938 on the family farm in Leetonia, where he still resided, a son of Ervin and Erma (Myers) Miller. A 1956 graduate of Fairfield High School, he married Rachel Culp on August 8, 1964 and they enjoyed 51 years together. Herman was a faithful member of the Leetonia Mennonite Church until his death. He was a farmer as well as an independent truck driver and business owner, operating 'Bolt-Biz-Nuts Co.' since 1983. Herman enjoyed pontoon boating at Guilford Lake for over 20 years. He frequented antique truck shows where he would bring his 1968 GMC Crackerbox truck he had restored. He belonged to the American Truck Historical Society and the Ohio Farm Bureau. He also was on the board at Harmony Village and a head usher and trustee at his church. He leaves his wife Rachel; five sons, Herman Jr. (Jennifer) of Columbiana, Melvin (Jill) of Leetonia, Daryl (Paula) of Columbiana, Darren (Elizabeth) of East Palestine and Todd (Melissa) of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Kayleigh, Kirkland, Kerrigan, Karlisle, Jason, Brittney (Michael) Baughman, Trinity, Christian, Wyatt, Myer and Ryker; three great-grandchildren Kaylee, Bentley, and Jaxson; and one sister Evelyn Miller of Columbiana. Herman was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Leetonia Mennonite Church, 764 Columbia Street, Leetonia with the Pastor Phil Slabaugh officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9 at 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Leetonia Mennonite Church, and also one hour prior to the service at the church, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Material contributions may be made in Herman's memory to Leetonia Mennonite Church or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
