Jack L. Stephens, 76, of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his residence following a brief illness. Jack was born on February 7, 1934 in Columbiana, Ohio, son of the late Arthur L. and Elizabeth (Orr) Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a 1952 graduate of Columbiana High School. He attended The Ohio State University and Miami University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Jack was a member of the Ohio State University Fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He worked for American Standard Co. for nearly 30 years having worked in Louisville and Paintsville, Kentucky and Salem, Ohio, having retired from the Salem plant in 1998. Mr. Stephens was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Germany in the 1950's. Jack loved gardening and was an avid Ohio State fan. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his wife JoAnne B. Stephens on February 4, 2008. Jack is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline (Richard) Murphy of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two sons, Jon (Mary Ann) Stephens of Columbus, Ohio, Arthur G. Stephens and partner Andrew Houser of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Sally (Robert) Morris of Austintown, Ohio; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Paula Archdeacon officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
