James Roy "Jim" Miller, 61, of Portage, WI, passed away on Thursday, March 8 at Divine Savior Healthcare Center. Jim was born on August 20, 1950 in Salem, the son of Carl Raymond and Vilda Iris (Buchner) Miller. He served his country in the United States Army. He had owned and operated his own painting company, and had previously worked in the Alaska oil fields. More recently, he worked at Petro Gas Company. He was an artist who shared his work in local shows. His artwork hangs on walls from Alaska to Virginia, and many places in between. His sons were his pride and joy, and he was their hero. Jim will be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence, and ability to make others laugh. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Margo" Langrehr Miller of Portage; two sons, Wilson J. and Jackson A. Miller, both of Portage; his mother, Vilda; three brothers, Randy C. (Susan) Miller of Columbiana, Robert E. (Patti) Miller of Leetonia, and Thomas B. (Diane) Miller of Columbiana; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Miller, and a sister, Carla R. Miller Sarchet. A memorial service will be held in Jim's honor at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 26 at the First Christian Church in Columbiana with Minister John Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. at the church. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
