James Lorry Munyon, 81, of Leetonia, Ohio, passed away at 10:05 pm, Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at his home. Mr. Munyon was born September 19, 1926 in East Palestine, Ohio, the son of Edgar and Mary (Abrams) Munyon. James resided in East Palestine in his youth and moved to Columbiana in 1948 and to his present home in Leetonia in 1986. Mr. Munyon worked at Enterprise Co. of Columbiana which later became The William K. Stamets Company. He also worked at Paxson Machine in Salem and Rex Machine in Lowellville, where he worked as a purchasing agent until he retired in 1991. James was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from January 11, 1945 to November 27, 1946 on the Island of Saipan in the Marianas Islands. He then joined the Marine Corp Reserves during the Korean War from February 23, 1950 to May 21, 1952 stateside. Mr. Munyon was an avid hunter and sportsman, he enjoyed softball, football, golf and bowling, and served as a past secretary of the Pioneers Men's Bowling League at Arrowhead Lanes in Columbiana. James is survived by his wife, the former Miriam Louise Ulrich whom he married on January 30, 1948. He is also survived by two sons; David C. Munyon of Leetonia and Mark A. Munyon of Columbiana, two grandsons; James D. Munyon and Joseph A. Munyon, and one sister; Wanda Rowland of East Palestine. Mr. Munyon was preceded in death by two sisters; Ruth Arthurs and Joyce Porter-Himes-Stewart and one brother; Roy Munyon. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Mr. Clarence Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
