James L. Oswald, 80, of 331 W. Salem Street, Columbiana, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Salem Care Center from complications of cancer. Mr. Oswald was born on December 5, 1928 in Streetsboro, Ohio the son of Herbert E. and Cora (Hostetler) Oswald. James worked as a laborer and a truck driver for a commercial paving company in Akron for many years. In earlier years James worked for Mantua Grain Company and most recently he had worked on the family farm and was a self employed house painter. Mr. Oswald was a Korean War Veteran. He was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. James also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews in his younger years. Mr. Oswald is survived by two sisters, Doris (Chester) Fath of Dalton, Ohio, Marilyn (Glen) Miller of Indiana; two brothers, Edward Oswald of Oregon, Mervin (Norma) Oswald of Chicago, Illinois; one sister in law, Aldean Oswald of Aurora, Ohio; and by many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by one brother, Noble Oswald. There will be no calling hours or services per Mr. Oswalds request.
