Columbiana, passed away at 1:17 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Salem Community Hospital Emergency Room, following a long illness. Mr. Markey was born on January 18, 1953 in Detroit, MI, the son of Robert Markey and Dorothy Chapman Markey Mentzer. Jeffrey spent most of his life in the local area. Mr. Markey was a member of Midway Mennonite Church. He was working on a Masters Degree at the University of Akron where he was an Associate Professor of Geography. In earlier years he had worked in Business Management and Administration. Mr. Markey was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Jeffrey earned a Bachelor of Business from Youngstown State University. He was an avid Ohio State Fan. He enjoyed history, reading and was a huge sports fan. Mr. Markey is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mentzer of Wenatchee, WA; his long time companion Charlotte King of Columbiana, two sons Jason R. (Stephanie) Markey of Poland and Justin (Jenni) Markey of Stow, a brother Robert Markey of Troy, MI and a grandson Aidan Markey. A Memorial Service will be held on Satruday, March 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Midway Mennonite Church in Columbiana with Pastor Larry Rohrer officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Midway Mennonite Church. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Midway Mennonite Church.
