Joan A. Findlay Zora, 89, formerly of Waverly, PA, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland. Mrs. Zora was born October 28, 1920 in Coraopolis, PA, the daughter of Fred and Mildred Helm Albrecht. Joan was a longtime resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa. living most of her life in Western Pennsylvania and moving to Poland in 2008. She was church organist and church secretary at Ken Mar United Presbyterian Church for 20 years and she had also given piano lessons. Mrs. Zora graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1938. Joan was preceded in death on May 10, 1982 by her first husband, James Findlay. They were married March 14, 1942. Survivors include three daughters Carol (Mike) Czarneski of Columbiana, Ms. Jane McEwen of Nashville, TN., and Anne (Rod) Findlay-Chamberlain of Honolulu, HI; a sister-in-law Billie Lou Albrecht of New Braunfels,TX; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Zora was preceded in death by her brother Frederick Albrecht. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Rob Joy officiating. Burial will be in Sewickley Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
