Canfield – John Gaskill Jr., 96, formerly of Austintown, passed away on June 23, 2026, at The Inn at Ironwood in Canfield.

He was born January 21, 1930, in Frostburg, MD, son of the late John and Rose (Lavin) Gaskill, Sr. John graduated from Frostburg High School in 1947 and enlisted in the United States Army. He later worked as an ironworker at Republic Steel and Sheet and Tube in Youngstown; he retired in 1987.

John liked stock car racing in Canfield during the 1950s. He belonged to Ironworkers Local 207 in Youngstown and enjoyed gardening and boating.

John is survived by his sons Jack (Beth) Gaskill of Dallas, TX and Joseph (Sandy) Gaskill of Austintown, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Grace Rizer.

At John's request, no funeral services will be held.
