John Franklin Morris, age 91 passed away Tuesday May 25 at 2:15 AM at his home in Pilot Point, Texas. Mr. Morris had been in ill health for two years. Mr. Morris was originally from the Columbiana, Ohio area and had resided in Pilot Point for the past 19 A½ years. He was born in Signal, Ohio the son of the late John Stookesberry and Eva Rudibaugh Morris. Frank as he was known by, graduated from David Anderson High School at Lisbon, Ohio associated with his father in the Morrisville Livestock Auction serving 4 counties as well as conducting farm and household auctions. He served in the European theatre during World War II . He was wounded during battle in Germany on November 24, 1944 and received the Purple Heart. Upon his return from the service he operated a dairy farm in the Columbiana area as well as conducting auctions. He was affiliated with the International Harvest Co in Youngstown, Ohio before accepting a position in the advertising department of The Farm & Dairy at Salem, Ohio until his retirement in 1980. In 1990 he and his wife moved to Pilot Point, Texas. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 290 in Columbiana, a Life Member of the DAV and of the Military order of the Purple Heart in Denton, Texas. He was a former member of the East Fairfield Ruritan Club in Columbiana. He leaves his wife Lizabeth Morris, whom he married on February 8, 1947, two sons Dr. Paul G. Morris of Pilot Point, Texas and Dr. David Lee Morris of Fort Collins, Colorado, a daughter Doris McMillan of East Palestine, four grandchildren Lisa Collins and Jared Morris of Austin, Texas, Brandon Morris of Denver, Colorado and Bethany Morris of Boston, Mass. along with 4 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Friends may call on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
