COLUMBIANA - John F. Pfeister, 90, passed away at Parkside Health Care Center Friday evening March 6, 2015. He was born on November 11, 1924 in North Lima, a son of Charles F. and Ilda P. (Gehrig) Pfeister. A 1944 North Lima High School graduate, John entered an apprenticeship and became a master carpenter and journeyman. He was employed as an assembler making tire presses at National Rubber Machine in Columbiana before retiring after 20 years. One of his prized possessions was a German Maybach used during WWII. He also rebuilt a 1928 Studabaker and 2 1937 Cords, one supercharged convertible and one sedan. He had a great interest in history and antiques, and belonged to the Winesburg (OH) Historical Society, the Beaver Township Historical Society, the Antique Tool Club, a former member of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club and was a past President of the Tri-State Antique Car Club. To cherish his precious memory, he leaves his sister Alice Vestal of Boardman and nieces Christine (David) Enright and Jennifer (Michael) Braund, all of Dublin, OH. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Babinsky, and his brothers-in-law Elmer Babinsky and Norman Vestal. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkside Health Care Center for the loving care and attention shown to John. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima has been entrusted with the arrangements.
