Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana where he had been a resident for one month. John was born on February 8, 1915 in Youngstown, the son of Karol and M. Giselle Novotny Remias. Mr. Remias worked as an appliance repairman and a farmer. John was preceded in death by Wanda Utkowska and his wife Mary M. Chmura Remias. Mr. Remias is survived by three daughters Barbara Remias of Columbiana, Mary (Phil) Ibbotson of Gardners, Pennsylvania and Wanda Ann (William) Modarelli of Columbiana. He is also survived by four grandchildren Holly (Jeb) Darhower, Diane (Dominic) Peticca, Laura Ibbotson and Carrie Ramos, and four great grandchildren. He leaves two sisters and one brother in the Slovak Republic. John was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am, on Monday, April 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia with Father Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.
