Joyce A. Butts, 67, of North Lima, Ohio passed away at 3:10 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Hospice House in Poland, following a long illness. Joyce was born on July 11, 1941 in West Point, Ohio, the daughter of Herbert J. and Alma (Bergman) Chuck. Mrs. Butts moved from Boardman to North Lima in 1970. Joyce worked as a deputy clerk of courts in Columbiana County from 1959-1961. She also had worked at Sparkle Market bakery in Columbiana for five years. Mrs. Butts was precinct presiding Judge for Beaver Twp. Mahoning County Board of Elections for many years. She enjoyed gardening and working with herbs and dried flower arrangements. Joyce lectured to local gardening clubs and other groups. Mrs. Butts was a member of the Greenford Lutheran Church and she graduated from Beaver Local High School in 1959. Joyce is survived by her husband, Melvin "Tom" Butts, whom she married June 10, 1961. Other survivors include her mother of West Point; two sons Matthew Butts and his wife Debra of Canfield and Michael Butts and his wife Christina of Medina; a sister Donna Shaw and her husband Gary of New Waterford; two brothers Herbert Chuck and his wife Sandy of Lisbon and Jay R. Chuck and his wife Debbie of West Point; two granddaughters and one grandson. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Greenford Lutheran Church with Pastor John Maroni officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the Greenford Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 11, 2008.
