Cleveland - Kenneth E. Smith II, 45, of New Springfield, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 21 at the Cleveland Clinic. Ken was born on September 15, 1970 in New Springfield, OH, a son of Kenneth E. and Janet (Taylor) Smith. A 1989 Springfield Local High School graduate, he attended Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster. Ken was the owner and operator of his own trucking and fencing company. He attended Victory Christian Church in Columbiana, and belonged to the Springfield Ruritans and Poland Lodge. He enjoyed taking his boat on Lake Erie, and was very active in his children's hobbies. He participated in the Springfield Local high school rodeo association along with his son Kyle. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ken is survived by his mother Janet Smith, two sons Kyle and Cole Smith, a daughter Paige Smith and one brother Ed Smith and his wife Kim, all of New Springfield. Janet's niece Sherry Ridzon who thought of him as her brother, will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth E. Smith. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E Garfield Rd, New Springfield, OH 44443, with Pastor Randy Morocco officiating. The family will receive friends at the New Springfield Church of God on Wednesday, July 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and also at 10:00 a.m., an hour before the services on Thursday July 28 at the New Springfield Church of God. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Kenneth's memory to the Ken Smith Donation Fund, which can be made at any Huntington Bank Branch for the benefit of his children.
