Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home 154 South Elm St. P.O. Box 1 Columbiana, Ohio 44408 330-482-3788 Lawrence W. Benner, 58, of 44315 Metz Rd. Columbiana, passed away at his residence on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 7:25 a.m. from cancer. Mr. Benner was born on October 20, 1948, the son of Wilbur D. and Dorothy Cope Benner Mossor. Lawrence resided in this area most of his life. He worked as a craneman at Eljer Plumbingware of Salem for 33 years, retiring in 2005 when the plant closed. Mr. Benner was a member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1970. Lawrence was a life-time member of the V.F.W. Post 892 of Salem. He attended Columbiana High School. He liked to fish, golf, play horseshoes and he enjoyed watching Ohio team sports. Mr. Benner is survived by his wife, the former Anne M. Barkley. They were married March 27, 1971. Besides his mother, Dorothy Mossor of Columbiana, he is survived by his mother-in-law Betty Barkley of New Waterford, two sons Matthew L. (Monica) Benner of Columbiana and Jason D. Benner of Leetonia, a sister Mrs. Margery (Monty) Armentrout of Columbiana, a step-brother John (Esther) Mossor of West Virginia, three grandchildren Sydney Anne Benner, Reagan and Alexis Benner, many brothers and sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur D. Benner, his step-father Virgil Mossor, and a grandson Logan Benner. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven K. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Midway Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.
