Obituary

Columbiana - Leonard E. Rohrer, 90, passed away early Tuesday morning at Parkside Health Care Center surrounded by family. Mr. Rohrer was born on June 19, 1924 in North Lima, a son of Harvey E. and Maggie (Kurtz) Rohrer, and was a life-long area resident. He married the former Esther M. Conrad on July 27, 1952, and together they raised two children. Leonard worked as a truck driver for Iron City Sash and Door of North Lima for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to that, he had his own milk route for 14 years for Smith Dairy of Boardman. He would pick up milk from local farmers and deliver it to the plant. Leonard was a member of the Leetonia Mennonite Church, and was a past church trustee. He was part of the McDonald's Morning Coffee Crew, and was a friend to everybody. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Cathy Hoover and her husband William of Columbiana; son Larry D. Rohrer and his wife Sharon of Goshen, IN; three grandchildren, Hannah (Ryan) Steiner, David Rohrer, and Laurie (Alex) Heintzelman; and three great grandsons Seth, Cole, and Graham Steiner. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who passed away October 24, 2005; and two sisters Elsie Linder and Esther Miller. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at Leetonia Mennonite Church, 764 Columbia St, Leetonia, OH 44431 with Pastor Phil Slabaugh and Pastor Jesse Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Thursday, October 9 at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH 44408, and also one hour before the service, at 10 a.m., at the church. Interment will take place at Midway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Leonard's memory to Salem Regional Medical Center, Project Hello/Charitable Foundation, Attn: Lisa Long, 1995 E. State Street, Salem OH 44460; and Christians Concerned Helping Fund, c/o Leetonia Mennonite Church, 764 Columbia St., Leetonia, OH 44431.
