YOUNGSTOWN - Lila L. Mitzel, 93, formerly of Mineral Ridge, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Northside Medical Center. She was born on May 15, 1919 in Darlington, PA, the daughter of Roy S. and Laura Lorena (Huston) McMillin. Lila attended Midland High School in Midland, PA. Lila's first husband was Paul Thompson. She married Gail A. McFarland in 1947. They moved to California in 1958 where she would later work for eight years as a Home Health Aide. Lila was preceded in death by her husband Gail who passed away in 1959. She married Anton Mitzel in 1971 and was with him until his death in 1976. Lila was a member of Mineral Ridge Church of Christ. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star of Ohio and the Crystal Chapter Lodge #18 of East Liverpool. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth in Victorville, CA. Lila enjoyed gardening in her earlier years, and spending time with her family. Lila leaves to cherish her precious memory one daughter, Donna (Donald) Hartlen of North Port, FL; one son, Donald (Bonnie) McFarland of Mineral Ridge; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Gail; her third husband, Anton; two brothers, Ralph and Howard; and infant sister Esther. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Mineral Ridge Church of Christ with Mr. Fred Schrock officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Glenview Cemetery. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
