EAST PALESTINE - Lillian M. Zins, 95, formerly of Columbiana, passed away peacefully early morning Tuesday, December 22 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine with her loving family around her. Mrs. Zins was born on June 3, 1920 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Walter R. and Clara Mae (Baxter) Sheddy. She married Richard D. Zins on May 26, 1937, and together they would raise five sons. Lillian worked as a crane operator during World War II and also waitressed for a time. Lillian was a member of New Springfield Trinity United Methodist Church, and dedicated much of her time there cooking for various activities and supporting youth programs. Besides being a homemaker, she also enjoyed bowling, was an avid bridge player, and was a member of the Columbiana Women's Club. She also helped manage their strawberry farm in New Springfield on Kibler Road. She leaves to cherish her precious memory four sons, Richard W. Zins and his wife Joanne of Chantilly, VA, James L. Zins and his wife Barbara of Lisbon, Edward J. Zins and his wife Jean of East Palestine and Russell L. Zins and his wife Candice of Prosper, TX; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, who passed away on November 12, 1987, son Ronald E. Zins and his wife Larinda, and sisters Clara Burks, Evelyn Young, and Laura Whittington. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday December 29th at 10:30 a.m. at New Springfield United Methodist Church, 2427 Columbiana Rd, New Springfield, OH 44443 with Pastor Pat Allen-Lindela officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 28 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one half hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Youngstown, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Lillian's memory to the New Springfield United Methodist Church. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
