Columbiana, Ohio, formerly of Kingwood Dr. Columbiana, passed away at 2: 30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 at his residence. Lloyd was born on January 25, 1920 in East Lewistown, Ohio, the son of the late David Simeon and Susanna Rosetta Coy Longanecker. Mr. Longanecker retired from Ohio Turnpike in 1984 working at the Canfield Maintenance Building #8 for 27 years as a maintenance mechanic. Previously, he had worked at General Fireproofing as a millwright, for John Deere and as a mechanic for Boardman-Poland School Bus Garage. Lloyd was a member of the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana. He had lived on a dairy farm in East Lewistown for 60 years before moving to Columbiana in 1979. Lloyd was a graduate of North Lima High School. Mr. Longanecker is survived by his wife, the former Muriel Henrietta Barnhart, whom he married October 18, 1957; a daughter Carla Susan Hatch; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters Elene Stevens, Bulah Longanecker and Norma Stevens and three brothers Marion Longanecker, Elwood Longanecker and Venice Longanecker. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations may be made to the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.
