Luggie
Jul 9, 1950 — Feb 8, 2008
Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home 11500 Market St. P.O. Box 281 North Lima, Ohio 44408 330-549-2231 Louis George Luggie, 57 of 429 N. Elm St. Columbiana, passed away at home from a heart attack on Friday afternoon, February 8, 2008. Mr. Luggie was born on July 9, 1950 in Youngstown, the son of Anthony "Tony" and Ann VanDyke Luggie. Louis or Chip, as he was know to his family, was a life-long area resident. He was a draftsman with the Simmers Crane & Design Co. of Salem since 1973. Louis was a member of the Greenford Christian Church and previously a member of Disciples Christian Church of Boardman. He had been an active member of both churches serving as past Deacon and Child Care Attendant. He was a graduate of Wilson High School of Youngstown in 1969 and also was a graduate of Youngstown Business College in 1971. Lou and his brother, Jeffrey shared a love of muscle cars, especially Olds. Over the years, they enjoyed car shows and collecting model cars. Lou loved working with wood. He remodeled both the homes he and Laretta have shared. Starting years ago, he began crafting miniature furniture from hardwoods, creating and giving room settings to many family and friends. In 2007, he and Laretta took short trips to Tennessee to visit Brenda, and a favorite get-away trip to Mackinac Island. A very devoted family man, Lou will be greatly missed by his wife, Laretta M. Channel, whom he married July 29, 1972, his children Miss Brenda Luggie of Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael Luggie of Boardman and brother Jeffrey (Kim) Luggie of Middlefield, Ohio, as well as sisters-in-law Celeste Hyland and Cynthia Guest. He will also be greatly missed by his co-workers, who knew him and loved him well. Lou was a gentle man in all respects. The angels are rejoicing with him as he meets his Savior face to face. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at the Greenford Christian Church with Mr. John Bush officiating. Entombment will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and from 12 noon until 1 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Greenford Christian Church.
