NEW MIDDLETOWN - Louise Detwiler, 87, passed away early Friday morning, March 4 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown. Louise was born on August 14, 1928, in Louisa, KY, a daughter of Baz and Maggie (Wilson) Wellman. She moved to the area as a child. Louise attended Youngstown State University, where she received her teaching degree. She also worked for the Youngstown Vindicator. She was a member of Greenford Christian Church, where she taught children at the Wednesday night program, and belonged to the church choir. She enjoyed arranging flowers and doing crafts from her home for many years. Louise will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Janice Yarosh, Tammy Kenney and her husband Terry, and Jill Detwiler, all of Columbiana; her son Terry and his wife Mary of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren Mia Detwiler, Anna (Ryan) Smith, and James Smith; four great-grandchildren Isaac, Noah, Emma and Olivia Smith; two sisters Dorothy Smith and Anna Detwiler; and two brothers Pete and Lonnie Wellman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Crawford S. Detwiler, whom she married September 24, 1949 and who passed away July 2006, her daughter Karen Smith who passed away August 2010. Also predeceasing her are three sisters and two brothers, Rose Ockerman, Alice Weaver and Ernestine Bush, and Herman and Lowell Wellman. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Road, Greenford, OH 44422 with Pastor John Bush officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 10 a.m. at the church. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, Southern Care Hospice, and Greenford Christian Church for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Louise. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
