BOARDMAN – Louise G. Harshman, 96, of Boardman, passed away at Shepherd of the Valley Thursday evening, April 3, surrounded by her family.

Louise was born on February 17, 1918 in Covington, Kentucky, a daughter of Frank James and Ida May Grimsey.

She married Edwin Harshman, a Baptist preacher, and worked as a home healthcare nurse for over forty years.

Louise enjoyed music, and was an accomplished pianist who taught herself how to play at a young age. She also had a beautiful voice and sang soprano. She loved her church, and spread the Baptist ministry along with her husband Edwin. She participated in the many groups offered at Shepherd of the Valley and especially enjoyed the bible studies. She shared her love of animals with her entire family. She lived in Florida for many years and loved being there.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her six children: Edwin (Gunella) Harshman of San Francisco, Samuel Harshman of Canfield, Frank (Pamela) Harshman of Chicago, Shelia (Stephen) Gerish of Canfield, Mary Ellen (Robert) Vicarel of Boardman, and Darlene (Robert) Ready of North Jackson; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin who passed away in 1976, and her son Steve who passed away in 1967.

Private services will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Shepherd of the Valley for the loving care and kindness they showed Louise during the past eight years. They took care of Louise as if she was a part of their own family.
