Obituary

East Palestine - Louise D. Hudson, 96, formerly of Columbiana, passed away early Saturday morning, May 28 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in East Palestine. Louise was born on January 23, 1920, in Salineville, OH, a daughter of Edward K. and Elizabeth (Bray) Brown. A 1939 Carrollton High School graduate, she moved to Columbiana in 1960. She worked as a seamstress at Franklin Furniture of Columbiana for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Louise was the union stewardess for 15 years while at Franklin Furniture. She married Willis C. Hudson January 18, 1942 and together they would raise five children. Louise loved to crochet, and made many beautiful large size afghans as gifts, and also crib-size ones for new babies in the family. She taught all her daughters to sew. She loved flowers, and enjoyed warm summer evenings resting on her front porch swing. Louise is survived by four daughters Sherry Kaye George and her husband Dennis of Greenford, Lynnaya Lafferty and Joseph Atwood of Richfield, MN, Suzanne Athey and her husband Randy of New Waterford, and Deborah Brown and her husband Larry of Fair Oaks, CA; one son Bradley J. Hudson and his wife Teresa of Manlius, NY; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister Marlene Hole and her husband Clarence of Clarkson, OH and one brother Richard Brown of Columbiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willis who passed away August 16, 1994, her sister Josephine Yealey, five brothers John, Charles, Thomas, Kenneth and Robert Brown; and two grandchildren Lisa K. George who passed away in 1970 and David Stephen George who passed away in 2003. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with Pastor John Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., an hour before the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Louise's memory to Senior Independence Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, OH 44406. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
