Lucille I. Snyder, 97, of 2160 Lower Elkton Road, Columbiana, passed away at 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from infirmities of age. Mrs. Snyder was born July 23, 1912 in Plymouth, Indiana the daughter of the late Dessie (Hite) and Charles L. Stoneburner. Lucille graduated in 1936 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. She worked as an elementary school teacher for 22 years having taught at Fort Wayne, Indiana, Crestview Local School and Beaver Local School from where she retired. Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deconess for 27 years. Lucille was a member of the Ohio retired teachers association. She was an Indiana State Penmanship Champion in 1930 and was an avid reader and enjoyed Bible studies. Lucille was preceded in death on September 6, 1996 by her husband, Emerson K. Snyder, whom she married on July 1, 1937. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Vernon) Bame of Bowling Green, Ohio, Charlotte Jones of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Bowling Green, Ohio; one son, Lowell (Cheryl) Snyder of Columbiana, Ohio; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Mae Law and by her brother, Edwin Earl Stoneburner. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. John Bartholomew and Pastor Douglas DeMar officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
