M. Lucille Morris, 96, of 13 Wind Rose Ct., passed away at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Salem Community Hospital from infirmities of age. Mrs. Morris, the daughter of R.W. and Violet (Heddleson) Moore, was born on Dec. 14, 1914, in Youngstown, Ohio. Mrs. Morris retired in the 1990s after working in restaurant management since 1940 at local area restaurants. She also drove a steel truck for Detroit-Pittsburgh Steel for 10 years in earlier years. Lucille attended the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine. She had also been a member of the Pythian Sisters of North Jackson for 76 years. She was also an avid bowler for over 40 years and competed in many statewide tournaments. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn (James) Nicola of Downers Grove, Ill. and sister, Mrs. Mildred Crouse of North Lima. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, who died on May 3, 1986, and two sons, Patrick R. Morris, who died March 11, 2004, and Shurl W. Macklin, who died May 14, 1996. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Shoemaker and two brothers, Edmund and Harold Moore. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, North Lima, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Ferris officiating. Material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the First United Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home of Columbiana.
