Mabel Shillinger Cooper, 90, of St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Sunday, September 4, 2011, at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana. Mabel was born March 31, 1921 in Struthers, the daughter of Roy and Alice Heberling Brothers. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker. Mabel had previously resided with her daughter Mary Lou Bokanovich in Hanoverton, Ohio. She attended Springfield Local High School. Mabel was preceded in death on September 23, 1987, by her husband Walter R. Shillinger. They were married June 17, 1939. She is survived by two daughters Marylou (Richard) Bokanovich of Hanoverton and Rebecca (Daniel) Lowry of New Waterford; a son David (Linda) Shillinger of New Waterford; a brother Jack (Shirley) Brothers of New Middletown; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A Private Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. The Family suggest material tributes be made to Hospice of the Valley.
