COLUMBIANA- Marie E. Kurtz, 81, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 2 at her home. Marie was born on May 1, 1932, in Fairfield Twp., the daughter of Harvey and Vertie (Metzler) Detrow, and was a lifelong area resident. A 1950 graduate of Fairfield High School, Marie worked at the Raymond Kurtz Farm Market, which she and her husband Raymond owned and operated for over 30 years. She was an active member of the Leetonia Mennonite Church, and had previously served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She also enjoyed her time in the women's ministries and sewing circle. In her spare time, Marie loved bird watching, gardening, and sewing, but most importantly, caring for and spending time with her loving family. Marie leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Kathy (Gary) Lehman of West Liberty, Oh.; three sons, William (Vickie) of Cumberland, Ind., Larry (Lucie) of Lancaster, Pa., and Alan (Carmen) of Plymouth, Ind.; two sisters, Mildred Grim of Poland and Doris (Glen) Yoder of Goshen, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death in 2011 by her husband, Raymond, whom she married on June 17, 1950; a sister, Dorothy Kauffman; and a brother, Arthur Detrow. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Leetonia Mennonite Church with Pastor Phil Slabaugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Private interment services will be at Midway Mennonite Cemetery. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
